So you want to work on an oil rig?
I recently picked up a site for oil rig jobs. After doing some research I discovered that lots of people were searching for jobs like this. According to one search engine report almost 80,000 searches per month!

So whats life like aboard one of these behemoths? Lets take a look.
Workers in this field say your life will change dramatically. Firstly you will make a good salary, but you will also be living at your workplace, completely surrounded by sea, with no land in sight.
As a whole the industry experiences higher turnover rate due to the rough conditions. But some say working offshore is not as difficult as you might think. I guess beauty is in the eye of the job holder.
First Day on the job: get your safety boots, hard hat, safety glasses and coveralls. A guided tour follows days of safety drills and exercises. You must become very familiar to your new surroundings.
Keeping a strong focus and positive attitude will only help to serve you well while working on an oil rig. Generally you'll work about a 12 hour shift each day with breaks to eat. Operators of these platforms always have a good selection of food available. I mean who wants to live on the ocean without a good steak, eh? Word is they even have theme nights with chinese or mexican dinners.
The food is used to make your life aboard a little more palatable.
Offshore oil rigs operate round the clock, so you may have to work the night shift. The only way off is by helicopter so if you don't like flying this job is not for you. Many workers travel around the world to work on these offshore installations.
