Advice on Navigating the "Real World": Lessons from Onions, Hepburn & Junior High

One of my favorite pastimes in May and June is to read commencement speeches, and scout for anecdotes. Put together a diverse audience of parents, grads, and visitors, combine it with the need to be concise, interesting, and not "too preachy"--and voila--a unique challenge for even the most seasoned of speakers. It's a unique challenge. (Here's some…See More

How to Look Like A Pro at a "Creative" Job

Several weeks ago, a University of North Carolina senior asked me a question, "How can I find a job as a strategic creative?" My answer: She's already positioning herself to do just that with smart use of LinkedIn, Twitter, and careful social networking. I'm not worried about her job search; she's doing great already.RenniemappThat being said, I think job search fever can sometimes lessen the attention given to an even more important part of the process--that of keeping and thriving in a job…See More

About Me:
I am passionate about helping people and organizations connect and find the right fit. Like my clients, I’ve spent my career exploring. I’ve worn many different hats, but this mission has been consistent and is part of my DNA.

I’ve worked in small teams and large offices, and I’ve lived in cities (D.C., Philly, and New York) and small towns in Virginia and New Hampshire. I spent eight years in the Ivy League, including a stint as Director of Career Services for Dartmouth’s Engineering School and as a career counselor at Penn. I have also worked as a recruiter. I’ve worked side-by-side with c-level executives, employers, college administrators, hundreds of students, and, yes—even rocket scientists. In the process, I’ve developed an electic style, combining a deep curiosity about how jobs work, with the resourcefulness of a New Englander and the warmth of a Southerner.

As a resume writer and career coach, I help my clients connect what they’ve done before with what they want to do next. Together, we develop materials and strategies that create chemistry between skills and experience and what employers need. I call this “putting your best fit forward.” Let me know if I can help you.

Hi Chandlee!

Please pardon me for this auto comment. It's as sincere as if I wrote it to only you. I have chosen to send this (cut and paste) to a group of Friend Invites that have yet to respond. Perhaps you missed my "friend request" from Dec 9th (which WAS personally written). In and case, my "invite" still stands; and I hope you will take advantage of it. We may be able help one another and others in this community by sharing and helping each other with shaping ideas that affect others' futures ... and even our own! That's what it's all about, yes?

I look forward to communicating with you, here on Secrets of the Job Hunt Network!

Sincerely,

Rob Taub
