Pedro, like so many others that serve the job seekers market, your passion and heart are admirable. I agree that empowered job seekers will be essential. Recovery will not come from the government but from the people. I have maintained throughout…

Pedro, excellent presentation of the other side of the equation. When job searchers understand what happens on the other side of the desk, it helps them to prepare and respond appropriately. Finding the right candidate / employer is not an…

Walking on Egg Shells

Years ago my running coach taught me to improve my foot turnover (and hence speed) by running as though I were running on egg shells. By stepping lightly and quickly, so as not to break the shells, I minimized the bounce to my joints and improved my turnover. The advice was perfect for marathon training but may not work for job seekers.

These days many people are in the market. Some are employed and seeking new opportunities. Others are seeking to reinvent their careers and still… Continue

Positive Attitude Helps In Job Search

This morning my friend and uber entrepreneur, Suzette (legendheart.com) sent me the quote below to jump start my week on a good note.

“Promise yourself to be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. Look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true. Think only of the best, work only for the best, and expect only the best. Forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. Give so much time to the improvement of… Continue

No More Killer Resumes!

During the week, I will inevitably receive a request from someone wanting me to write a "killer resume" for them or their firm. When this term was initially popularized I ignored it but enough already! I don't write killer resumes. I don't want to kill a prospective employer, I want to engage them so they want to learn more and meet you face to face.

Our culture seems to have a fascination with death and destruction. IMHO, all great elements for the perfect action movie but do we… Continue

When All Else Fails....DANCE!

I got a laugh today when I viewed a video clip about a guy who wants to work in a brewery. You can view the video clip below. I don't drink so I normally would have ignored a commercial for beer but thankfully I got this in email and the application to career marketing caught my attention.

In today's competitive job market, many job seekers can relate to the over the top tactics in this clip. I don't recommend spandex but you can get great ideas to power up your search from the… Continue

Hi Karen,

It's great to meet you. I'd love to talk about having you as a guest on my podcast, The Savvy Jobseeker, to discuss the importance of career marketing. Many jobseekers still don't understand that they must actively market themselves. It would be a fantastic topic to cover on the podcast.
