New to jobblogging! I am now officially frustrated as I've been job hunting for almost a year after being home with my children for 9 years. Have hooked up with 2 staffing agencies, made a LinkedIn file, applied for several jobs via the local papers and on line, and am running out of ideas, not to mention a positive attitude!
It's deeply understandable that you might be frustrated. I think most anyone in your situation would be. I mean, you are blessed with gifts, abilities, and a desire to be of service and it feels like no one will give you a chance.
Good news is, if you are interested in speaking to people, you are heading in the right direction. Looking online for jobs typically represents 20-30% of actual jobs. Networking provides access to the 70+% rest of the jobs... the more familiar you are, the more known and trusted. And when it comes to getting hired in any market--not to mention the one we've got now--trust will matter.
