Secrets of the Job Hunt

Career Advice Podcasts & Job Seeker Network

We have a new sponsor here at SOTJH, Real Match a new kind of job site. I asked them a few questions via email in order to give you a better idea of what they do. If you look along the right side of this page you'll see their job listing widget, check it out.

1. Explain what Real Match is?

Realmatch is a job matching website and network of 1100 “powered by” sites.

2. Why are you different than other job sites?

There are 4 things that differentiate Realmatch are…

Technology – Realmatch’s Real-Time Matching technology is based on proprietary algorithms. It uses taxonomy to define the job seekers unique set of skills and the posted jobs’ requirements. By matching the candidate’s skills and preferences with the job requirements, the system enables job seekers and employers to find each other and communicate in a dramatically more efficient way than is possible today in job boards, using keywords search technology.

The result is a better user experience for both the employer and the job seekers. Job seekers no longer need to weed through hundreds of job listings. They can also remain anonymous while exploring new career opportunities. Employers no longer have to weed through hundreds of unqualified resumes. The matching process saves the employer and candidate significant time while unearthing all of the best opportunities immediately.

Business Model – Realmatch completely eliminates the risk associated with job posting in sites using the “pay-to-post” pricing model. The majority of job boards today charge employers a fee to post their jobs without providing any guarantee of results. Conversely, Realmatch allows employers to post jobs for free, view candidate profiles for free and only pay a small fee to open the resumes of matching and interested candidates. Employers and recruiters are already beginning to abandon the pay-to-post pricing model in favor of pay for performance sites like Realmatch. The Realmatch solution includes free applicant tracking system which otherwise costs thousands of dollars. RealMatch is especially attractive to small businesses that cannot afford to spend $400+ to post a job on major sites and buy expensive recruitment software to screen and grade candidates. Our vision is to offer one, all inclusive, package that provides one click job posting on hundreds of sites, recruiting software, background and reference checks, candidate evaluation tests, and more.

User Experience – The Realmatch comprehensive solution boils down to a completely new and much more satisfying user experience for both the job seeker and the recruiter. After using traditional job boards for years, users’ frustration has grown to the extent that they are looking for a new solution. Realmatch eliminates the risk, noise, inefficacy and ambiguity of keyword searching and categorical job listings and creates a whole new user experience.

The Network Model - Realmatch’s open network model is based on thousands of sites that share both candidates and jobs. Realmatch is both a destination site (www.realmatch.com) and an open network of high trafficked sites for which Realmatch powers the career channel. Currently, Realmatch powers the career channels of over 1000 sites and is able to bridge the gap between employers and job seekers by leveraging the combined traffic on all its member sites, thereby creating a critical mass. One site in the network may have a nurse looking for a job in Norfolk Virginia. Another site in the network may have a hospital in Norfolk Virginia looking for a nurse. Realmatch’s open model and matching technology enable both sites to provide value and satisfy their customers. Realmatch shares fees that are collected from advertisers for resume opening with its network members. Realmatch Network members are able to monetize their traffic and generate income from a market that currently generates some 25% of all online advertising revenues.
