Secrets of the Job Hunt

On the radio today, they were discussing the meaning of 9. In Chinese culture, apparently

it means beginning, while in Japanese culture, it refers to ending.

This harkens back to when I learned the enneagram (http://www.enneagram, a model of personality,

based on 9 numbers, from the "reformer/perfectionist" to number 9, the peacemaker/ mediator

The enneagram is one of many tools of self-discovery has many purposeful aspects for job seekers:

-serve as a tool of prediction (for example, recruiters and hiring managers)

-tool of hiring

-help job seekers decide how to make a career change;

-figure out who is compatible colleague, manager or supervisor in a a company or organization;

-discover how one's personality meshes with a company's culture

-tool of communication to have more harmonious relationships with others

and most critical to starting a job search- a tool of self-awareness, the first step of

embarking on career change.

Some famous numbers in the enneagram:

President Obama is a 1

John Lennon (born on October 9) is a 9. Remember the song "Revolution number 9" on the white album. The

constant refrain." Number 9, number 9, number 9..."

(Co-incidentally, the release of the newly mastered Beatles tunes were released today

at 9:09 am

I had the fortune of teaching the enneagram on a military base a couple of years ago

and my students were fascinated with the 3 hour exploratory course.

And as for me, I am a 2 and a strong 4.

Check out what the 9 numbers mean on http://www.enneagram.com/
