Secrets of the Job Hunt

Career Advice Podcasts & Job Seeker Network

OK. So, I'm cheating a bit. I got the idea for this post from Karen Burns who writes a great blog called Working Girl. Karen wrote a post a few days ago called If You've Been A "Job Hopper" that I really liked. It's a big issue for job seekers these days because there are still a huge number of HR folks and hiring managers that use "job hopping" as a first screening tool. Too many one year or two year jobs? You are out of the running. Sorry.

So, to be fair, please go read Karen's article now. It has good, practical advice on how to manage the information on your resume and how to address the issue in interviews if you are afflicted.

OK. Good. You came back.

With Easter approaching (at least according to the retailers I'm seeing), the thought hit me that have too many jobs on your resume is like having the Easter Bunny hop and skip over it. Sounds cute, I know. But it's not cute for everyone. Your resume gets dirty and hiring managers don't want to touch it. After all, bunnies are varmints, right? And who knows what they stepped in whilst leaving eggs in the garden.

So, too many bunny prints? Well, you could print a fresh copy of your resume and hope people won't see them.

But we both know that won't work.

How To Never Miss Your Next Big Job Opportunity

Opportunities are all around us. We just have to know how to spot them and when to accept them.In terms of finding a new job, closing yourself off to new opportunities is one of the worst things you can do.
