If there is one thing that I have learned during the great recession is that
most people still dont know how to job hunt.

Actually I have known this since the mid 90s when I started moonlighting as a resume writer. But I thought with the explosion of career advice books and the internet that people would educate themselves more and learn to become better at locating and finding a job.
Alas, I was wrong.
The problem is that no one has taught us how to job hunt. Looking for work today is a much more
complex and time consuming process than it was 10 years ago. There are too many sites and things you have to know to be successful.
I am convinced that if people are better prepared to job hunt they will find a job faster than those who aren't.
The solution to much of this problem lies with our education system. Colleges, Universities and even high schools
need to add job searching to the curriculum. They should be hiring career coaches to teach the upcoming workforce how to job hunt. But instead they rely on the outdated career center model that relies on students coming to them. Wrong approach.
We need to drill job hunting techniques into their heads. Make job search courses mandatory.
